ALMA Humanitaria, A.C. is the humane society of Los Barriles B.C.S., and surrounding areas. We are a non-profit Mexican association funded solely by private contribution, dedicated to the well being of domestic animals in this area through our Vaccination, Spay & Neuter, and Education programs.

Our association was formed in February of 2003 by a group of volunteers who saw a need to help the animals in this area. Through these and ongoing programs we have made a significant impact on the quality of life of these animals, as well as on the community itself. There has been a drastic reduction in the number of stray animals in the streets, and fewer known cases of disease. Through a new sense of awareness and caring by the locals, many more animals now have loving homes.

As yet ALMA has no shelter; however with the recent addition of a veterinary clinic to town we have access to prompt medical care. We do our work in several ways - Our volunteers assist at the clinic several days a month helping the veterinarians provide both emergency and regular health care for animals in the area. Every month between 25 and 50 dogs and cats are spayed or neutered at the veterinary clinic. We still conduct our local spay and neuter day clinics as well.

ALMA reminds you to be responsible dog owners and clean up after your animals. Keep our streets and beaches free of unpleasant debris.
