CLINICS:

Spay and Neuter Program:

In an effort to maintain our now reduced pet population, A.L.M.A. offers spay and neuter services for a nominal reservation fee,  to any pet owner in this area. The service is provided at spay and neuter day-clinics we conduct regularly with a team of expert veterinarians from La Paz. These professionals generously provide their service at a discounted rate negotiated to assist A.L.M.A. with our cause.

On average we spay and neuter 30-40 dogs and cats at these all-day clinics.

The program includes vitally important one-on-one educational guidance regarding recovery and care, as well
as transportation of the animal if needed.  Although this is considered a free service, in an effort to   further the notion of pet ownership and responsibility, an appropriate donation is requested and appreciated.

A follow-up medical clinic is held a week after each spay and neuter  clinic to provide any care needed for these post-op patients, as well as treatment of other local pets with minor medical or surgical problems.

               Transportation is available if needed!!!!

Vaccination Program:

This program is conducted on an individual basis, our volunteers contacting owners to offer this no-charge service to dogs and cats over the age of 5 weeks. The series of three injections, which prevents Parvo, Distemper, Hepatitis and parainfluenza, is administered by trained volunteers. Free Rabies vaccines are available to pet owners at the Government Clinic in Los Barriles.

Together we DO make a difference!!
The opening day of the Amigos Veterinary Clinic was eagerly anticipated by local communities of Los Barriles, Buena Vista, El Cardonal, as well as others. Finally, last year, in June of 2007 the long awaited day arrived and the clinic opened its doors!! Three veterinarians from San Jose, Dr. Bravo, Dr. Renee and Dr. Gabriel opened a satellite clinic here in the North Beach area. Thus, bringing easily accessible animal care to this area. This allowed locals to discontinue the long drive to San Jose or La Paz to get routine care for their animals. This clinic is the only clinic within 50-60 miles in any direction!

A.L.M.A. especially welcomed the new clinic. A.L.M.A was able to make arrangements with
doctors from the Amigos Clinic in North Beach
to have spay and neuter clinics there on a regular basis. In the past A.L.M.A. relied on homeowners to allow us to set up a portable "field hospital" in their bodegas, or when possible we used a community building. Needless to say, the clinic is a much better place to have the spay and neuter clinics!

The clinic is clean and well equipped. Doctors use the latest techniques available.
A.L.M.A. continues to provide spay, neuter, vaccines, worming meds and flea and tick meds. Financial assistance available for qualifying locals.

A.L.M.A. is supported by donations and fund raising events. To make a donation of time or money please call Sheila Marshall 624-137-7683 (cellular) or from the US: 206-414-2982. Your gifts are used to benefit local animals.
